TUITION OPPORTUNITIES ARE ABUNDANT

Over 40% of current families receive some form of tuition assistance.
Participation in Scrip increases this to 80%.

It is the policy of Bishop Garrigan Schools that no student will be denied admission
because of financial inability to make tuition payments.

LOCAL TUITION ASSISTANCE

The policy stated above comes as close as possible to providing a firm guarantee that any family wishing to enroll in the Bishop Garrigan System is able to do so.  A significant part of our development office program is tuition assistance.  It is available to families qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch and takes the form of grants (which provide money towards tuition) or work-study arrangements in which students or parents are employed by the school for office or custodial work.  Most college students today apply for tuition assistance and work to earn the rest.  Please don't hesitate to do so for the value of a Catholic school education!  Confidential arrangements for tuition assistance are made by meeting with our high school principal, Mr. Michael Stence, or Seton principal, Mrs. Kathee Froehlich.

STATE OF IOWA TUITION TAX CREDIT

TUITION TAX CREDIT - The state of Iowa has implemented several tax credits that are vital to the future of our state that provide families with options when it comes to educating their children in the school of their choice, regardless of the families' income level.  You can claim $250.00 per student in tax credit for tuition and fees.

MONSIGNOR LAFFERTY TUITION FOUNDATION - The Educational Opportunities Act, passed by the Iowa Legislature in 2006, allows Iowa taxpayers to receive an Iowa tax credit equal to sixty-five percent (65%) of the total amount of voluntary cash contributions made to a School Tuition Organization (STO).  The Monsignor Lafferty Tuition Foundation is the STO for our diocese.  The STO allocates the funds in the form of tuition grants to Iowa school children, who in turn use those grants to attend one of the accredited, nonpublic schools represented by the STO.  Your family may qualify for a significant tuition grant by submitting a F.A.I.R. application.  Application forms are available in the Forms and Information section of our website.

SCRIP - Scrip is a program for the Bishop Garrigan School System which generates tuition assistance for your child when you purchase negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash.  You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials.  With every purchase, you earn revenue for our school system, with a portion going towards your child's tuition.  The scrip coordinators are Jill Book and Barb Stence.  If you have any questions or need more information on scrip, please contact your coordinators at 515-295-3521.
