"We recall an intense American in the person of our late President
John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Taking cognizance of our own youth, we regard him
significantly as the champion of youth.
In much of his endeavor, he evinced a deep interest and concern for the young; this he explicitly set forth in his creation of the Peace Corps, in his efforts toward bettering excellence, in his vision of youth as future leaders in government and world affairs and in his cultural outlook for all. Most compelling was the example of his living, the spirit he infused into the young, epitomized so well in his memorable words, 'Ask not what your county can do for you but what you can do for your county.' We, the youth of
Garrigan High School, are proud to dedicate the 1964 GARRIGOLD to the
memory of John Fitzgerald Kennedy." |
