Chemistry is a topic that is involved with many professional careers. Therefore, it is a course that is highly recommended for anyone wishing to pursue a college or university based career. The first semester will place emphasis on the basics of chemistry. Time will be spent in developing an understanding of the elements and make-up of matter. The second semester will consist of the study of the kinetic theory of matter, the gas laws, energy and disorder and solutions; the concepts of reaction rates, acids and bases, oxidation and reduction and an introduction to carbon based componds. Labs will chosen by the instructor to enhance the material covered in lecture.

Prerequisite:Taken or be taking Advanced Algebra; and permission fo chemistry instructor.
