Algona is on U.S. highways 18 and 169, about an hour from both
Mason City, Fort Dodge, and Spencer, Iowa.
It is about 21/2 hours from Des Moines and 3 hours from
the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul).

In addition to classes, most high school events including basketball, volleyball, football, softball, baseball, intramurals, music contests and concerts, plays, speech contests, and quiz bowl tournaments are held on the school grounds.
From the north, south, or west:
Drive to the intersection of U.S. highways 169 and 18 by Hy-Vee and Bomgaar's at the north end of Algona.
Drive east on highway 18 for about 1 mile, just past the railroad tracks.
Turn south (right) on McCoy Street. (a Fareway supermarket, Emerald's restaurant, and the Eastland Hill shopping center are at the corner.)
Go south two blocks to the front entrance or four blocks to the parking lot at McCoy and Poplar Streets.
From the east:
Drive west on U.S. highway 18 just into the city of Algona. (The highway will become four lanes, and you will pass the large Snap-On Tools factory and a cemetery on your left and a Harley-Davidson dealer on your right. At that point, you should be able to see the lights of the school athletic complex.)
Turn south (left) on McCoy Street. (a Fareway supermarket, Emerald's restaurant, and the Eastland Hill shopping center are at the corner.)
Go south two blocks to the front entrance or four blocks to the parking lot at McCoy and Poplar Streets.
High school parent/teacher conferences, some music contests, as well as most middle school and grade school events are held at Seton Grade School or the adjacent Rochleau Center and St. Cecelia Church.
Seton Grade School is located next to St. Cecelia Church in central Algona.
Follow U.S. highway 169 into downtown Algona. Go to the corner of State and Phillips Streets (at Central Park).
Go north on Phillips Street (past an old Pizza Hut and the old depot/Train Wreck Winery) for two blocks. You will pass the Algona Public Library on your right and a playground on your left.
Turn west (left) on North Street. Parking for Seton and St. Cecelia is just west of the corner of North and Phillips.
(Note that the main entrance to Seton is on the north side of the building, off of Lucas Street. During the school day other entrances are generally locked. Limited parking is available north and east of the school.)
Cross-country meets and some high school golf meets hosted by Bishop Garrigan are held at River Road Golf Course.
River Road Golf Course is located northeast of Algona.
From Algona, follow US 169 north past the intersection with US 18 to River Road, which is near the Algona center of Iowa Lakes Community College. Turn right on River Road and travel about a mile. The golf course is on the left.
Some high school golf meets hosted by Bishop Garrigan are held at Spring Valley Golf Course.
Spring Valley Golf Course is located east of the village of St. Joseph (St. Joe), which is south of Algona on US 169.
From Algona, follow US 169 south past St. Joe to the Kossuth/Humboldt county line. Take the county line road east about 2 miles. Turn left on 140th Ave., and drive north for about a mile and a half to the golf course.
Occasionally some BGHS events are held at the Algona KC Hall.
The KC Hall is located on north Main Street, just south of US highway 18 and just a few blocks west of BGHS.
From BGHS, follow Poplar Street west to Main Street (at Motor Inn Auto Center). Turn right on Main Street and drive about 1 block. The KC Hall will be on the left.
From out of town, follow US 18 to Main Street (a major intersection just east of the railroad tracks and just west of McCoy, the street Garrigan is on). Turn south on Main, and loop past Casey's. The KC Hall will be on your right.
